Mr. Hutson has been a senior partner of the firm since joining the team in 1971. He brings with him an expertise and focus on architectural litigation, engineering malpractice, construction and contracting litigation, toxic tort litigation and professional negligence litigation. Considered a Super Lawyer in the state of Ohio, he has successfully represented cases in matters of easements, high pressure gas lines, remodeling projects, roofing materials and decks, material handling systems, mold remediation, copyright infringement, pre-engineered buildings, bidding issues, contract administration, and many more. Additionally, Mr. Hutson takes on projects in the areas of waste water treatment facilities, hospitals, restaurants and motels, court houses (state and federal), residential housing, silos, maintenance facilities, correctional centers, warehousing, site development, slaughter house facilities, schools and universities, swimming pools, and parks and zoos. Aside from his work at Lane, Alton & Horst, Mr. Hutson is recognized for career-related civic work in his professional community and in the state of Ohio. He has served as a mediator and arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and sat on its panel of construction and commercial arbitrators. He was a member of the construction law committee and professionalism committee of the Columbus Bar Association, and was president of the Ohio Association of Civil Trial Lawyers. Moreover, Mr. Hutson served on the board of governors of the Ohio State Bar Association, and he was the regional vice president of the Defense Research Institute. Today, he continues in his professional affiliations as a fellow of the Columbus Bar Foundation, the Ohio State Bar Foundation, the American College of Trial Layers, the American Constitution Society, the Columbus Bar Association and the Columbus Metropolitan Club.
Mr. Hutson’s career is supported by his educational foundation. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where he achieved a Bachelor of Arts in economics in 1963 and an LLB in 1966. He was admitted to practice in the state of Ohio in 1966 and Hawaii in 1971.
